Below are our current guides to help you when measuring up your rooms and for choosing the correct door threshold plate for flooring transitions between doorways.
Measuring Up Guide
Ensuring accurate room measurements is crucial to receiving the correct square meter coverage for your flooring. This saves you waste, time, and money.
Here’s how to measure your rooms for flooring underlay:
- Measure the room from its widest points across both width and length, including alcoves, doorways, and window bays.
- Multiply these measurements together to calculate the total square meterage of the room.
For irregularly shaped rooms that are not naturally square, it’s easier to divide the room into sections, measure each section’s length and width individually, multiply these dimensions, and then sum up the totals to determine the overall square meter size of the room.
Door Threshold Plate Guide
We stock various door threshold plates in 0.9m lengths which are all for different flooring transitions.
Cover strips are used for joining almost any type of flooring of equal height but is most commonly used for connecting vinyl flooring to vinyl flooring.
Single edge door plates (also known as single nap door plates/bars) provide a clean transition from laminate/hard flooring to carpet. They are also useful for transitioning from carpet to bare floorboards.
Double edge door plates (or double nap plates/bars) effectively joins two carpets together.
Z bar door plates are ideal for connecting laminate/hard flooring to carpet. The z bar door plate on one side will grip the carpet in place, whilst the other edge’s ‘z’ lip conceals the rough edge of the hard flooring, ensuring a seamless, professional finish without visible nails or screws.
